Our flight for Dublin landed pretty early, around 9 a.m., giving us a full day in Dublin to explore. We couldn’t check into our hostel, but we were able to leave our luggage and come back. We decided to go visit Howth Harbour. It was about a half hour away from the city and pretty cold and windy when we got there..it was actually snowing!

Maggie and I then showered and headed out to try to visit the Jameson Distillery, but it was too late to get a tour, so we decided to go check out a local pub nearby. We had a drink and then went to dinner at a local Irish restaurant. I had a wrap, the other girls had traditional food like fish and chips and irish stew. We then decided to go out in Temple Bar, which is an area where there are a bunch of bars and shops. Mostly they are full of travelers and young people and its really expensive, but fun to experience!

Friday was a nice relaxing day. Since it was Good Friday, lots of places were closed including all pubs :( but we were still able to do most of our sight-seeing. We began the day with lunch at Queen of Tarts, a cute little cafe with delicious entree and dessert tarts! Maggie and I got hot cross buns and a tart to share, both were delicious!! We then visited Christ Church Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin Castle, St. Stephen’s Green Park and Trinity College. We had a busy day and ended up taking it easy that night, hanging out at the hostel’s bar for a drink or two :)

Saturday was our last full day in Dublin so we decided to take it easy and finish up some shopping. Maggie and I also were not able to visit the Guinness Brewery and Jameson Distillery on Good Friday, so we did both on Saturday. We got a free drink at each place and I was also able to be a special taste tester at Jameson. I was able to taste some scotch, Jameson, and Jack. I had to decide which one I liked the best and Jameson actually won for me. It was much smoother and crisp than the others, I was surprised that I liked it at all. The free drink we got was Jameson, ginger ale, and lime- actually really delicious!

At the Guinness factory it was a self guided tour, which was kind of
nice to go at our own pace and see what we wanted. There was 7 floors to
the building- it was huge! The top floor was the Gravity Bar, which is a
bar with windows all around so you can see over the whole city of
Dublin. It was really cool to be able to enjoy a glass of Guinness and
look out over the city! I was surprised to actually like Guinness a bit.
It was very bitter and filling as well as tasted like intense black
coffee, but not bad for a free beer, who can complain then right? :)

Maggie and I also walked by the old jail, Kilmainham Goal. We really wanted to go inside but the queue for tickets was way too long and we didn’t want to miss our Guiness tour :) We then did a little shopping and walked around the city..by the end of the day our feet were SO sore we could barely walk. It was treacherous, I wish I could know how many miles we walked.. it had to have been at least 10, or 20! :)
We had to be up at 3:45 to catch our taxi to the airport on Sunday morning. It was also daylight savings time in Europe so that really threw us all off. It was a very long day of traveling, we didn’t make it back to Rosendal until 10p.m. that night! The week went so fast and I am wishing we had more time! I for sure will want to go back to Dublin/Ireland in the future! So much fun!!
