Weekend in Rosendal!

This Saturday we went to Husnes, the nearest town with a shopping mall. Everyone was saying how big and nice the mall was, so we decided to go check it out. It was really small and not very exciting. We were okay with that though, we just wanted to see what it was all about. Saturday night I spent lots of time skyping and catching up with some family!
Little shops in Husnes.
Shopping with the girls!

Sunday morning hike...so nice!

Sunday morning Maggie, Lindsey, and myself all went on a pretty long hike. We were trying to find the waterfall in the mountains. We actually ended up walking right past it and continued on for miles and miles! We were enjoying it though, we went up part of the mountain and had a really good view of Rosendal, and got plenty of other pictures. We then attempted to get to the waterfall on the way back, but there was a river in the way! We decided to try and cross it because there were many large rocks in it that would make it easy to cross. But it really wasn't that easy..we got about half way. Maggie and I were not as risque as Lindsey, who just ended up walking through the water! We will save the waterfall for another day I guess!

So beautiful :)
I love the trees here, so tall and skinny!
Not sure what this was, but it looked cool!
The Barony Rosendal and the garden...so pretty when in bloom!

Maggie being adventurous!
Sunday afternoon we all went to Stein's (the secondary school principal) birthday party! He turned 60! Him and his wife Elka, invited us over as well as their family and friends for some cake and coffee. That is how they celebrate birthdays here, some cake and coffee. There were about 6 different types of cakes including some Norwegian cake (which was the best :)) German chocolate cake, cake with alcohol frosting that was really strong, and a could others. They were all so different and interesting!

The cakes! the one with the yellowish frosting was the best!

Today was the second Monday of school. Kind of long, just because it is all in Norwegian and I can't understand much. I am getting to know the students a bit better by working in small groups playing go fish and letting them play on my iPad. I was also able to help with the math worksheets they were working on today! I am also able to do a lot of observing and that helps me get to know the students and teachers a bit more. Each day is getting a little better and I am starting to understand more Norwegian and I think the students are starting to understand me a little more too :)

The school library. So much smaller than in America.

First Grade!

First grade classroom- I spend most of my time here!
